Isabella Motta
Bio
Isabella Motta is a Brazilian-Taiwanese writer whose multifaceted identity has, from an early age, fueled her quest for homefulness. Growing up in Brazil as a lesbian woman, she navigated the challenges of finding her voice and claiming her narrative, and the process of “civilizing” to fit into society’s rigid expectations felt unnatural and at odds with her creative inner world of dreams and imagination. As an immigrant who moved to Europe in her late 20s accompanied only by her two cats, the physical distance from her home country intensified her longing to find a home within herself.
She developed a career in tech and entertainment working with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, while serving as director for Longboard Girls Crew, a global organization for empowering women and minorities in action sports. It felt like she was truly living the “girl boss” narrative – until one day, she could no longer ignore the deep internal restlessness that was leaving her disoriented, disconnected and feeling foreign in her own life, prompting a journey of self-discovery to retire the perfectionist over-achiever that had been the lead character in her story so far. Embracing meditation, therapy, self-analysis and art, she started reconnecting with her true essence, which led her to pursue an initiation in Akashic Records, a course on healing trauma, and a certification in Jungian Coaching.
She currently lives in Amsterdam with her wife and their two cats, Alice and Pretinho.
