Marie J Taylor

BIO

Marie Taylor was born in Essex in the 1970s. She grew up in the cultural soup of the stockbroker belt of the 80s. By 18 she’d broken free of Essex and was educated at Aston University’s Business School in Birmingham. After graduating and holding many corporate roles a seemingly minor car accident had a profound impact. A simple but significant shunt from behind on the M1 motorway was the kick up the behind she needed to begin a domino effect of changes in her life that was the start of her exploration of the then ‘new age’. Now, thirty years later these ideas are much more widely accepted and backed up with robust research.

While she forged ahead with her corporate career she was also seeking something more fulfilling that could serve the world and make a difference. She began to study communication, persuasion and influence.

This lead on to a detailed study of why people do what they do and how to help them develop beneficial behaviours while stopping destructive ones that keep them from being doing or getting what they want.

Those worlds converged when she moved to Bristol, then newly qualified as a performance coach, she got married and shortly after experienced a difficult transition to motherhood.

It was during this early motherhood chapter of exhaustion, isolation and recovery that the idea for Urban Earth Mother was born. The mission behind it gradually unfolded as a hub for women’s wisdom that wasn’t getting handed down through the generations because of the way we live in modern society. After a triumphant birth followed her first traumatic one she knew that Birth was the topic to tackle first.

Urban Earth Mother exists today to support people by connecting them to wisdom and experience from a like-minded community.

Marie coaches and provides consulting to help women find their voice and become better leaders at home, at work and in their communities. She also supports men to achieve a healthier, happier and more sustainable existence.

The Smart Women’s Guide to Giving Birth: Mind, body and birth partner preparation for people short on time and attention span

Are you or your partner in the final stages of your pregnancy and feeling unprepared for giving birth?  If you are, this book is for you.

This needle moving moment is as important as your wedding day but the impact it has is much bigger. When we are born we inherit many things, physically and emotionally.  We can also set the thermostat for many aspects of who we are and the patterns of behaviour that run at the core of our being.

Mum of two and mindset coach, Marie J. Taylor shares her knowledge, tips and insight into the inheritance that the experience of birth might give us and our children.  This book is designed for people who are results focused but time poor.  She shares what she wished she’d known before giving birth, what she learned through the experience of her first difficult birth, what she learned from her next triumphant birth and a whole host of other wisdom she discovered while training to be a birth doula.

Marie is on a mission to give parents-to-be a shortcut to the knowledge of women, midwives, hypnobirthers, doulas and authors of all the books she hadn’t read before having her own babies.
